Even while foiling Kraven’s plans, Peter and Miles try to help their former adversaries find redemption. In G28 , Peter fought off members of the Sinister Six while juggling his relationship with Mary Jane. The story crescendoed with the death of Aunt May at the hands of Otto Octavius.
And the way both characters’ powers grow over the course of the story are very satisfying. The first game laid the groundwork for how fun swinging as Spider-Man can be. So make sure your reaction time is sharp before you don the super suit.

Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is confirmed to be a PS5 exclusive, and fans will not be able to play the superhero game on previous-gen hardware or on any rival platforms at launch. Of course, if you’re going to be catching your ray-traced, 4K reflection (if you opt for the 30fps fidelity mode) in that glass so often, you’ll want to look your best. Fear not, because there are dozens and dozens of suits to unlock, with myriad colorful skins to pick from on each of them.
The Vulture is a dangerous adversary who specializes in aerial combat. His wing suit provides great speed and maneuverability in the sky, rendering anyone helpless in his talon clutches. Kraven the Hunter is an enigmatic character that lives only for the hunt. He will kill without hesitation if his target proves too weak for his enjoyment. While Downtown Brooklyn is actually much larger in real New York City, you can still check some known places like Coney Island and and the iconic Brooklyn Bridge. While you can’t really go shopping in the Upper East Side, you can still see some famous retail stores on the iconic Madison Avenue and walk by museums and prestigious schools.
The new trailer also showed off the new webwings mechanic, as well as the AR tech fitted to Peter’s and Miles’ lenses. Better still, players can expect the sequel to feature more than 65 suits based on the comics, films, and original designs. On the whole it’s a tried and true set-up for a Spider-Man story—the perils of leading a double life, making sacrifices to do the right thing, all that jazz. But that does also mean it’s a story we’ve seen an awful lot of times before, not only across films, TV, and comics, but also in the previous two games in this series.
With thrilling action gameplay and a deep story, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 capitalizes on the heights of its predecessors and somehow makes New York big enough for the two web-slingers who inhabit it. What’s more, it transforms villains from dated tropes to complex characters, and humanizes the people we save, and the ones who save us, in unforgettable ways. It’s hands-down the best Spider-Man game I’ve ever played, and a strong contender for the best game of a stellar release year. But out of this expansive rogues gallery, Venom is the magnum opus that reprises every emotional note the rest of the game has played. Spider-Man 2 foreshadows the looming threat he poses over dozens of its 31 main story missions. Thankfully, you’ll have massively-enhanced gadgetry and powers by the time you finally face him.

Unfortunately, Shocker is one of Kraven’s victims, and among the first characters to die at Kraven the Hunter’s hands. While it is unclear if the games will follow this route, the introduction of Cindy does tease the potential for yet another Spidey to join the fight. When she first meets Peter in the comics, he notes that while she is not as strong as him, she is faster. She also has the power to shoot webs out of her hands and a stronger variation of Peter’s Spidey Sense, known as Silk Sense. Other than these small differences, she possesses the exact same powers as Peter Parker’s Spider-Man. That’s a great shame for PC players, who are still holding out hope for a port of the title in the near future.
The bases are the white markers on the floor in the brownish outline. Like many of the game’s quests, the central premise transforms what you’d think superhero work typically looks like. After saving stolen artifacts for the museum, Miles remembers his departed father through his connection to jazz. “My dad really loved Charlie Parker… I guess I need to start listening closer to my playlist now,” he muses.
These characters do add a bit more flavour to the world and its largely homogenous population of NPCs you’re clearly not intended to look at too closely. These later stages are where the majority of Spider-Man 2’s thrills lay, however, as it really hits its stride late on, and emphatically wraps up a tale with miles of emotional depth that never once threatens to peter out. Speaking of boss battles, that’s one area that takes a noticeable step up from our initial tangos with Kingpin, Vulture, and the rest. One of my criticisms of the first in Insomniac’s series was how uninspired many of the showdowns felt, with their quicktime-heavy fights making a light impact. Improvements were made in Miles Morales, but here in the full-fledged sequel, boss battles really come to life. You’re made to wait a little too long for them sometimes, but when they do arrive they never fail to excite.
Peter befriends Jefferson’s son, Miles Morales, and persuades him to volunteer at F.E.A.S.T. Kraven injects Connors with a new Lizard serum, turning him into the iconic giant creature. This version has a full-fledged alligator look, nodding to Mortal Kombat 1’s Reptile. Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 includes a plethora of suits for both Miles and Peter, but some outrank others in terms of style. He can then see who’s the strongest and then take them on himself to prove he’s the apex hunter.
