The PS5 remake of Demon’s Souls is, in the ways that matter most, the best version of the game, but that still leaves us with the question of why you should care about Demon’s Souls in the first place. You don’t walk away from a game like Demon’s Souls without a few good stories to share. When I think back on my time with the PS5 remake, two moments that occurred fairly early on in the game spring to mind.

It is a nightmare, and you’ll want to go there with all the poison- and plague-resistant items you can find on your journey. That depends on who you ask, but there were times when I was begging for Bluepoint to take the wheel and make this game its own. That’s hardly the only way that the power of next-gen gaming improves Demon’s Souls.

It’s hard to sum up in words just exactly how expertly weaved together their tales are, but suffice it to say that it has never been replicated to this degree in any Souls game since, Bloodborne included. You might want to swap out the spell outfit for a set of knight’s armor — just increase your stats so you can fast-roll. In contrast to the stage’s extreme difficulty lies boss that are complete pushovers so just getting through the valley almost ensures completion of the area. The haptic feedback by itself makes a ton of difference, enhancing every hit and blocked attack, and the brilliant 3D audio design brings Boletaria to life like never before. The 3D audio, the cutting-edge graphics, and the haptic feedback all come together to make these moments hit harder than was ever possible on older hardware.

The downside to the great power that the Blueblood Sword has to offer comes at the price of being very specific with the type of build a player goes for. A player needs to be running a luck build to really get the most out of this weapon, but they will find that it is very powerful. This sword can become one of the hardest-hitting weapons in the game when used correctly. It’s just a shame that the luck glitch was removed so players can no longer one-hit enemies. While the Rune Sword looks cool and comes with a matching shield, there isn’t much use for it. Players who grab this weapon from either Upper Latria or by killing Black Phantom Ostrava will realize that it caters more to players who decide to use magic.

But Demon’s Souls is the name on that list we’re most excited to see. The Blue Eye Knight Helm can be found in World in either Pure White or Pure Black World Tendency, in an open door left to the staircase to Phalanx. The Chest is located in World 1 – 2, behind where you located Ostrava. The Legs are in 1 – 4, behind the area where the Blue Dragon is. These bosses may be the scariest that FromSoftware has ever designed. While most titles have benefited from the PS5 Pro’s power, some of them have done better than the others.
